Matrix/integrin-generated signaling in invasive head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC)
A post-doctoral position is available to study signal the contribution of matrix/integrin-generated signals to the invasive phenotype of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). In addition to being an adhesive substrate for the migration of invasive tumor cells, the ECM provides a permissive environment for protumoral signaling and resistance to treatment. Based on previous studies from our team, the project will focus on oncofetal variants of ECM components that are upregulated in HNSCC. Our approach is multidisciplinary, bringing together basic and clinical scientists with complementary expertise (cell biology, mouse tumor models, epigenetics, virology, radiotherapy and human tumor pathology) and state of the art techniques.
The candidate will contribute to the elucidation of in integrin-based signaling that underlies the bidirectional communication between tumor cells and the desmoplastic stroma of highly invasive and angiogenic head and neck tumors. Candidates should hold a PhD in cellular or molecular biology; experience in cell imaging will be an asset. The successful candidate will possess excellent written and spoken English communication skills, strong self-motivation, flexibility and a team spirit.
